The excellence
of the territory

Immerse yourself in a world of authentic and genuine flavours resulting from the meeting of tradition and innovation in the Montagna Fiorentina. San Godenzo is famous for its marroni (chestnuts), which are also used to make flour; both products are PGI. Other local products include cereals and fodder. Londa is famous for its Regina peach, which ripens late and has a unique sweetness. Other important products are wine and oil. Both municipalities are committed to sustainability and zero-kilometre production, respecting traditional farming methods and the environment: this results in high-quality products cultivated and produced with care and recognised as authentic local specialities.

The Regina peach

The “Regina di Londa” (Queen of Londa) peach has been grown in the area for over 50 years and is now a Slow Food Presidium. It ripens late, from September when it is greeted with a pleasant festival celebrating its qualities. The Regina peach retains its excellent organoleptic characteristics for about a week after harvesting. Its creamy white flesh is very sweet and aromatic, delicious when eaten fresh, and used in the preparation of jams.

The Marrone PGI

The delicious Marrone del Mugello, protected by the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI), is medium to large and has crunchy, sweet flesh, which makes it one of the best in the world. It is grown without pesticides or fertilisers; no chemical treatments or additives are used during storage. This fruit is also used to make chestnut flour, another excellent product that has won Italy’s title of the best.

The Bardiccio

Bardiccio is a typical sausage of Londa, with a strong and spicy taste. It is made from second-quality beef and pork, minced and mixed with seasonings such as salt, pepper, garlic and fennel, but each producer follows his own recipe, mixing the ingredients according to his own experience. Stuffed and tied with string, it does not need to be seasoned. It can be grilled, stewed or added to various recipes such as risottos and stuffed roasts.
